General Motors tests the 1st hybrids by Chevrolet

Chevrolet Volt hybrid.

General Motors has started tests of pre-series copies of "connected hybrids" Chevrolet Volt. As informs American edition Automobile, the State of Michigan is tested cars in city conditions nearby to the test centre of concern in the city of Warren. In the near future it is planned to construct in total 80 copies of hybrids Volt which tests will proceed up to a model exit on the market.

Serial Chevrolet Volt it's planned to equip with a hybrid power-plant which structure includes the 150-strong electromotor and lithium-ionic accumulators for which additional charge in movement the 1,4-litre petrol engine will be used. On parking the car can be recharged from the usual household electric system. It's expected, that one charge of batteries will suffice to provide to sedan Chevrolet Volt movement on an extent approximately 64 kilometres.

Manufacture commodity Chevrolet Volt will be adjusted at Detroit factory GM in November of next year. On preliminary data, cost of such hybrids will make about $40,000USD.
