Company Chevrolet has prepared for Le Mans new Corvette

On Wednesday company Chevrolet has presented a racing sport prototype of class GT2 — Corvette C6.R which in the beginning of August of current year debuts at competitions Acura Sports Car Challenge in the city of Lexington (Ohio, USA), and in 2010 will take part in a marathon "24 hours of Le Mans".

The racing car is constructed on the basis of civil supercar Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and has the general aluminium frame, the chassis, steering system, a windshield, an aerodynamic weather-cloth and the general design of a body. Besides, according to the requirements, shown to cars of class GT2, the width of a back rear wing has been reduced by 25%, and the back bumper represents now the continuous panel without edges and any other acting elements. Also the sport prototype is completed by ceramic brake disks and wheel disks from an aluminium alloy instead of the magnesian.

In current season Chevrolet Corvette C6.R will use six-litre motor V8 power of 470HP which is constructed on the basis of more powerful seven-litre unit used on racing cars of class GT1. The engine of model C6.R works on "racing" ethanol (a gasoline and spirit mix).

As informs companies GM, for competitions of 2010 and a marathon "24 hours of Le Mans" where Corvette will compete to cars Aston Martin, Ford, Panoz, BMW, Porsche and Ferrari, engineers will prepare the new eight-cylinder motor in volume of 5,5 litres.
